News
I had lunch with a friend this last week. It was nice to catch up with her. We talked books and it was amazing how similar our tastes in reading. We both felt the same way about A Court of Thorns and Roses. It’s not a popular opinion so it’s surprising that we both feel the same way. After reading book 1, we saw the writing on the wall and couldn’t bring ourselves to read book 2. Both us may read it at some point but not today. I told her about my current read and recommended books to her. She put a new book on my radar that comes out in October.
The book that comes out in October:

What I read this week

I read a netgalley copy of The Seventh Champion. I spent a lot of time telling my friend about the beginning of this book. It has a very interesting start. And since it like the very first scene in the book, I have no problem telling you about it.
Rosie doesn’t believe she is the dragon princess. She is “kidnapped” (her words) by the high king and taken to a competition of champions for her hand in marriage. Once married, they will travel to the dragon queen and defeat her. Rosie is not amused by this whole situation. She has met the first champion, the nephew of the high king, and she’s not impressed. He’s not to her liking in the least. As she is returning from her lesson in the library, she sees this champion coming up the stairs. Not wanting another encounter with him, she searches for an escape. With nothing else at hand, she sweeps up to the guard an alcove and tells him that she’s sorry but she must kiss him. Which he does. Shocking for both of them and interrupted by the irritated champion, the game begins.
It is a compelling beginning to a very interesting book. I spent most of the week reading it and enjoyed it. The only reason it took me all week to read is because the middle the book is following an obvious path. The last third changes things up and made it a lot more interesting. I do recommend the book. It’s a good one. You’ll see my 4 star review this next week on the blog.

New Books this week
I received this book from the publisher on netgalley. It’s due out December 2, 2025. It’s the first contemporary book I’ve accepted in some time. It is a favorite troupe of mine, so I’m hoping to love it. Can’t beat a good fake dating book.

This was my Book of The Month Club book.
