News

We had work done on the house this week. Lots of prep and post work to deal with. I’m really not a fan of having workers at my house. The dogs are upset and I can’t seem to do anything I want to do. It’s annoying but it needed to be done. Check that one off my summer to do list. I do have a long summer to do list. I need to get on that.

What I read this week

I read Unbound by Penelope Bloom. This book should count for TWO because it’s over 700 pages long! I had mixed feelings about this one. It does have some Fourth Wing elements but I was less concerned about that. I was more worried about all of the flaws in the writing. Those things bug me. Check out my review on the blog this week.

New Books this week

This is why my TBR list never gets any shorter. I see a book that captures my attention and I buy and read it immediately. What can I say, I’m a moody reader.

In addition to Unbound, I received two new digital ARCs from Berkley. Both are romantasy.

Purchased a new audio book
Cover of the fantasy novel 'A Fate Inked in Blood' by Danielle L. Jensen, featuring a woman with flowing hair and mystical symbols in the background.
What’s new on your shelf? Hope you had a great week!

When we bought our house in 2016 it had just been redone (it was previously rented) so it was all magnolia walls and grey carpet. We have slowly redecorated – as in we have done the downstairs and bedrooms 😂 the hallway still needs doing. My dad used to be a decorator so we had him in to do the downstairs. That was messy and we had to live upstairs for a few days 😂 actually the worst was when our bedroom ceiling fell down due to a leak in the loft 🤔 we had to get plasterers in for that. Anyway hope the work went well and that you enjoy your books 😂

Leaks are the worst! We had that happen last fall. Had to redo all the flooring in the basement. What a mess. Our work was outside but we had to move things in prep and paint afterward. Still not fun. Rather be reading 😉

It was just so sudden. One day a tiny bit of water, the next most of the ceiling down. Luckily it happened during the day and we weren’t in the bedroom!

Definitely rather be reading! Part of our loft insulation was ‘bitty’ like cat litter so it was a terrible mess.

How annoying to have to redo all the flooring!

We are having some work done in our house this week too. A necessary evil, unfortunately. I hope you enjoy all of these and have a great week!

Ah, housework that others need to do is never fun. I sometimes had to be the one who stayed home for that when I was a student. Which wasn’t bad, but I didn’t like being with strangers either personally! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I do recall hearing about The Seventh Champion! Mainly because I remember that cover as I love that cover artist! Hope you enjoy your lovely new reads!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

I always hate having stuff done around the house. In the long run, it’s worth it but getting to that point can be difficult. Hope you enjoy your books and have a great week!

We just spent months having the master bathroom redone in our house (and then us doing the closet and master bedroom afterward), so I can definitely relate to that chaos. I LOVE it now that it’s done, but it’s definitely a long, hectic process.

One summer we redid our bathroom, and one summer we redid our kitchen. It was chaos. I wish I’d not done it during the summer! A Fate Inked in Blood looks interesting.

I’m very much the same: see interesting book, get interesting book. Unfortunately with me sometimes I miss the moment to read it (e.g. try to “save” it to read later) and then later never comes… meaning I have quite the backlog, ahaha.

Your romantasy reads look really tempting! Hope you enjoy the new ones.

Having gone through a renovation without a kitchen and family room for 8 weeks I can relate – not fun but necessary. That is a long book! Have a great week.

Oof yeah, work being done on the house is really annoying. Everything goes topsy-turvy! At least you’ve got it done.

Hope you have a good week for reading!
