They stole his crown, so he stole their daughter…
For years Erik, the scarred king of the Ever Kingdom, has thought of nothing but vengeance against the man who killed his father and trapped him beneath the waves, making him a prisoner in his own realm.
Until his enemy’s daughter unintentionally breaks the chains on the Ever, and Erik makes her the unwitting pawn in his vicious game of revenge.
She’s innocent. He’s vicious. But he will take back what he lost, no matter the price.
Unless she steals his heart first.
Welcome to the passionate world of the Ever Kingdom where pirates, sirens, and fae collide with Vikings in a dark fantasy romance between a villain and the innocent princess who holds his heart.
I haven’t read this author before picking up The Ever King. I didn’t even realize this story was written in the same world as the author’s Broken Kingdom series. Now I want to go back and read that series too.
The Ever King gives a bit of the past in the prologue. Livia and Erik met as children with Erik behind bars and Livia drawn to him. She told him stories. A connection was made. And our story begins.
Erik is king of the Ever Sea fae and Livia is the princess of the land fae. Locked in his realm, Erik is struggling to help his people. An ugly blight has taken over their lands leaving less and less for his people. He is certain that if he could retrieve the mantel the Land fae king had taken from his father that that he would have the power to save his people. But the chasm that blocks this realme from the Land fae is sealed and he can’t pass.
Livia has a secret from the last time she saw Erik. She fears his return but she’s also drawn to him. Their pull towards each other is swoon worthy. Of course he takes her from her realm and the story begins.
This is a fast paced enemies to lovers story with great writing and a cliffhanger ending. I was pulled in and happily stayed in the pages riding the wave of this story to the very end. And I needed book two immediately. It’s one of those times I’m glad I already had the second book so I would leap right into it.
I enjoyed the pirate like Ever ship with it’s ability to sail under the water faster than on top. There were sea voices that contained magic I’ve not seen in other books. Those that should have been trusted shocked me with their real story. Sea witches and blood bonds stirs things up. In the end, this was a great first book in a series I think I will love.
Even though this is a spin off series, you don’t need to have read the first series to understand this one. You can enjoy it all by itself. Don’t miss this book. It’s an enjoyable book to escape with.

Have you read this series?
